Both of these books are introductory texts for 3D imaging and animation. They are not trueSpace books per-se, but they do focus alot of attention on tS because of its use in their tutorials. They both include CD-ROMs with trial versions of trueSpace and sample textures, models, and animations. They also come with trial versions of other 3D software.
The trueSpace 2.0 Bible
Author: Plantec, Peter
Sams Publishing
This highly anticipated book is being authored by the TSML's own Peter Plantec. At 800 pages (!), this book promises to be the complete reference tome for trueSpace. Peter is a very prolific contributor to the tS mailing list and most of the tips that appear on these pages will undoubtably appear in the book, in one form or another. What I gather from Peter is that the approach of the book is as a reference for becoming a professional or at least turning out professional grade work. So there will be quite a bit of helpful information on from the doing-it-as-a-business angle, as well as coverage of the intangible animation qualities that separate the amateurs from the pros -- like cinematic lighting and art direction. Further, the book will include sample images and animations from other members of the TSML and a CDROM. Publication is anticipated for around March, 1996.
Mark Jeffers (jeffers7@aol.com)
has authored some on-line
trueSpace Tutorials
that deserve special mention on this page if for nothing else than
their outstanding quality. They are well-written and come complete
with numerous screen shots and downloadable example files. As of
01/08/96, he has made two tutorials. One is the making of a space
planetary scene and the other is for the creation of landscapes.
More tutorials are planned. Highly recommended.
